RAGGING FREE CAMPUS
Dear Parents,
WARNING : In pursuance of the Hon'ble Supreme Court direction :
Any student found indulging or abetting in ragging shall face criminal proceedings in the court besides expulsion from the Institute. Ragging includes disorderly conduct, whether by words, spoken or written, or an act which has the effect of teasing, treating and handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which may cause or likely to cause hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student. As per the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, educational institutions shall have to register FIR against students indulging and ragging.
Further, we look forward to your continuing support in this direction for the coming session as well as years to come. Today, the ragging has become synonym with teasing, terror, harassment, cruelty, fear and physical and mental torture and abuse of human rights of fresher, which are resulting in numerous unavoidable deaths, suicides, group clashes/conflicts and large number of fresher dropouts. It is emphasized that NIIT considers ragging as a cognizable and heinous offence and will not hesitate to take stern action against the offenders with a view to maintain "Ragging Free Campus". Some of the punishments for students directly or indirectly involved in the ragging and its abetment are given as under:-
- Cancellation of Admission
- Suspension from attending classes.
- Withholding / withdrawing of scholarship / fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing for any test / examination/placement activities organized by the institute.
- Withholding of results.
- Lodging FIR against offender.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any National or International meet, tournament and festival.
- Suspension / Expulsion from the hostel.
- Rustication from the institute for varying periods.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
- Fine
- Rigorous Imprisonment for up to 3 years (under court of law).
Finally, you are requested not to indulge in ragging in any form. The enclosed Performa for undertakings by you and your parents may please be completed & signed as same is required to be deposited to the department before his/her registration. Your cooperation in maintaining "Ragging Free Campus" will go a long way in enhancing the image of NIIT.
